| SAFARI SUMMARY: On February 16, volunteers led by Larry and Yvette Hohler left New York to visit our Children's Home in Kenya. The participants included teacher and board member Kevin Mann, his daughter Tiffany, Aida Zavala, and Shoreham Wading River High School students Lauren Belafiore, Zara Browne, and Casey Vail. Accompanying the group was AIDS educator Ed Hyshiver, and Chris Belafiore. We met with local officials, toured the children's schools, and brought books and backpacks for the children. The student volunteers spent two days painting and lettering the children's home mini bus, and visited a local waterfall with our kids. The group came away with a deeper understanding of the needs of our children, and an appreciation of their enormous resilience. |
