Fourth Annual Kenya-USA Bi Continental Run
Sunday, April 20, 2008
Shoreham, Long Island and Meru, Kenya
|
The Fourth annul Bi Continental Run was won by two very swift Kenyans. 22 year old Kenneth Kimathi of Meru Methodist University had the best overall time of 14:16, beating the American winner, 16 year old Bobby Andrews from Shoreham Wading River High School, who ran the race in 17:18. 20 year old Miriam Naktari, also from Meru Methodist, led the women with her time of 17:18. (an amazing coincidence!) The fastest American woman was 18 year old Kristen Marie Wojtuniak from Longwood High School. Kristen finished in 21:58.
Over 200 Kenyan runners and walkers showed up to participate, and 91 Long Islanders stepped off in Shoreham. Over $5,000 was raised on both continents to provide for the needs of our children at the Jerusha Mwiraria Hope Children's Home. |
