Fifth Annual Kenya-USA Bi Continental Run

The 5th 2009 Kenya/ USA Bi Continental Run was held at Shoreham Wading River High School (and Meru, Kenya) on Sunday, April 19.

Brookhaven Town Supervisor Mark Lesko & Kenyan student Oliver Machaka award the medal to the quickest American woman, Dowling College freshman Stephanie Ingenito, who ran the 5K race in 23 minutes, 14 seconds.

Supervisor Lesko and Oliver Machaka award the medal for fastest American to Dowling College Freshman Jon Cuomo, whose time was 17 minutes 54 seconds. HCF president Larry Hohler looks on.

Joe Kirima and the Kenyan runners before the April 19, 2009 Bi Continental Run.

Steven Mung'athia of Meru Methodist University finished first in the 2009 5 K Run, with his time of 14 minutes, five seconds.

13 year old Nancy Kathure, running with the Meru Methodist team, was the quickest female on both continents with her time of 17 minutes, 21 seconds.

Hope Children's Home resident Risper Mwendwa recited a poem commemorating the 2009 Bi Continental contest.
